Which file format should I use for a fax?
Use PDF whenever possible because it preserves page boundaries and order. Use JPG or PNG for clear photos or scans of paper pages.
| Format | Best use | Preparation tip |
|---|---|---|
| Forms and multi-page documents | Open it and check every page before uploading | |
| JPG / JPEG | Phone photos and scans | Crop the full page and avoid shadows |
| PNG | Screenshots and high-contrast scans | Confirm small text stays readable |
Can I fax a Word document?
Yes, after saving or exporting the Word document as a PDF. Direct DOC and DOCX uploads are not accepted at launch, which avoids unexpected font or layout changes.
Why are HEIC and TIFF not listed?
HEIC, HEIF, TIFF, and TIF are not accepted at launch. Convert them to PDF, JPG, or PNG on your device and visually check the result before uploading.
What files should not be uploaded?
- Password-protected or encrypted PDFs that cannot be opened
- Executable files, scripts, archives, or macro-enabled documents
- Blurry, incomplete, sideways, or severely compressed images
- A file whose extension does not match its actual contents
