Who can access an uploaded fax document?

Uploads are stored in private object storage rather than a public folder. Temporary, narrowly scoped authorization is used when the browser uploads and when the fax provider retrieves a paid job.

A private status link shows limited receipt and delivery information. It does not expose a public document URL or display the complete destination number.

How long are documents kept?

FaxFor99 is not permanent document storage. A validated unpaid upload is scheduled for source-file cleanup about two hours after preparation unless checkout extends that deadline. An incomplete upload becomes eligible for cleanup after 24 hours and is checked by a daily job, so removal may occur later. Paid files can remain during processing; a provider-reported delivered or failed result, delivery timeout, or completed refund moves source files to a cleanup deadline no later than about one hour afterward.

Note: Operational metadata needed for receipts, fraud prevention, accounting, disputes, and legal obligations may be retained longer than document files.

Does FaxFor99 store card numbers?

No. Payment fields are provided by the payment processor. FaxFor99 stores transaction references and accounting results needed to operate the service, not full card numbers or security codes.

Does FaxFor99 remove metadata from uploaded files?

No. At launch, accepted PDFs, JPGs, and PNGs are sent to the fax provider using their original bytes. A file can contain author, camera, device, date, or location metadata even when it is not visible on the page. Remove that metadata on your device or export a clean copy before uploading if this is a concern.

Is FaxFor99 HIPAA compliant?

FaxFor99 does not currently claim HIPAA compliance and should not be selected by a covered entity that requires a Business Associate Agreement. Individuals should review the recipient’s instructions and avoid sending information that is not required.

What can I do to prevent a misdirected fax?

  • Confirm the fax number using a current, authoritative source.
  • Check every digit again before payment.
  • Include only documents the recipient asked for.
  • Use a cover sheet when it helps the receiving office route the pages.
  • Keep the delivery result and follow up with the recipient when appropriate.
