Phone scanning tutorial

Scan paper documents for fax with your phone

Use your phone’s document scanner to save a PDF, inspect every page, then upload it to FaxFor99. You do not need a fax machine or a separate desktop scanner. A clean scan gives small text and signatures a better chance of arriving legibly.

How do I scan a document on an iPhone?

The Files app can scan several paper pages into a document you save on your device. The Notes app also supports scanning.

  1. 1Lay the page flat in even light, with a background that makes all four edges easy to see.
  2. 2Open Files, open its More menu, and select Scan Documents. Keep the camera parallel to the paper.
  3. 3Let the camera capture the page, or use the shutter. Adjust the corners and keep the scan; add the remaining pages before finishing.
  4. 4Finish the scan and choose where to save it. Open the saved PDF and check that every page, signature, and edge is present.
  5. 5Open FaxFor99 in your browser, choose the saved PDF, review the page count and total, then enter your recipient and pay once.

How do I scan a document on Android?

Google Drive’s Android app can capture multiple pages and save them as a PDF. Other scanning apps can work too if their output is a supported file.

  1. 1Open Google Drive and tap its camera control.
  2. 2Capture a page and adjust the crop or rotation so the whole form is upright.
  3. 3Use Add to scan the next page. Retake blurred pages before continuing.
  4. 4Tap Done, select PDF, and save. Download a copy to your device if the file picker cannot access it.
  5. 5Open the PDF to check page order, then select it through Choose files on FaxFor99.

What should I check before uploading the scan?

  • Zoom in on the smallest type, handwriting, checkboxes, barcodes, and signatures. Retake a page if they are blurry.
  • Keep the full page visible. A tidy crop should not remove a reference number or the bottom signature line.
  • Avoid glare from glossy paper and shadows across important fields. Put the phone directly above the page.
  • Check the exported PDF itself. A good camera preview does not guarantee the saved file contains all the pages.

Note: FaxFor99 checks supported files and counts pages, but it does not crop, rotate, enhance, or edit them. Make those changes on your device first. Scanning apps may keep their own copies under their own storage settings.

Should I upload photos or one PDF?

Either works when the files are supported. One PDF is often easier to check for a multi-page form. Each JPG or PNG counts as one fax page; a PDF is charged by the pages inside it.

A saved HEIC image is not accepted at launch. Export it to a supported format or use a document scanner to create a PDF. Renaming the extension does not convert the file.
