Delivery status explained

How long does an online fax take?

Allow several minutes for fax delivery, with more time for long documents, busy lines, and retries. Uploading a file and transmitting it are separate steps. FaxFor99 shows the latest confirmed status and sends email updates; it does not promise a fixed delivery time.

What does each delivery status mean?

What the status tells you—and what to do next
StatusMeaningNext step
QueuedPayment is confirmed; submission is waiting for background processing.Keep the private status link. Do not purchase the same fax again.
SendingThe fax network has accepted the job; final delivery is not yet confirmed.Wait for the delivery result or email.
DeliveredThe receiving fax system reported successful transmission.Save the confirmation and follow the recipient’s receipt process.
Failed or review requiredDelivery could not be confirmed, or an uncertain result needs review.Read the specific message before deciding whether to retry.

Why can a fax take longer than its upload?

An upload only places your file in storage. Delivery also needs payment confirmation, submission to the fax network, a connection to the recipient, transmission, and a final status check.

A short PDF may upload almost instantly but still need time to send. Additional pages, a busy receiving line, or network trouble can extend the process. The status page also waits for confirmed provider updates, so it may briefly lag the actual transmission.

Refreshing the page repeatedly does not move the fax ahead in the queue. The service continues its work even after you close the browser.

What should I do if the status seems stuck?

  1. 1Open the existing private status link from your confirmation email.
  2. 2Check the last update and any specific error or connection message.
  3. 3If the page reports a connection problem, let it retry or reopen the same link when your connection returns.
  4. 4If the fax remains unchanged for an unusually long time, contact support with the displayed reference. Do not send payment details or attach the original document to the support message.
  5. 5Wait for the original attempt to be resolved before paying to send the same pages again.

Does delivered mean a person read my fax?

No. Delivered confirms transmission to the receiving fax system. It does not confirm that someone reviewed the pages, accepted a form, or met a filing deadline.

For time-sensitive documents, check the recipient’s own instructions and allow time for their staff to route and review the pages. Save your delivery confirmation separately from the document.
