Troubleshooting guide
What to do when a fax fails
Start with the message for the original fax. An upload failure, a rejected submission, and an incomplete transmission happen at different points and need different fixes. Avoid paying or sending again while the first attempt is still queued, sending, or under review.

How do I troubleshoot without accidentally sending twice?
- 1Reopen the existing status link and copy the short reference for your own records.
- 2Check whether the problem occurred before payment, before submission, or during transmission.
- 3Read the specific status and refund message. An email and an older browser tab may show different stages; refresh the same status link for the newest result.
- 4Verify the destination through the recipient’s official website, letter, or staff. A valid-looking number can still belong to the wrong line.
- 5Correct a document or destination only after you know the first attempt is finished. Ask support to reconcile an uncertain result before starting again.
Why is my file rejected before payment?
Check its format and size first. FaxFor99 accepts PDF, JPG, JPEG, and PNG, with 20 MB total, up to 20 files, and no more than 200 pages. Password-protected or malformed PDFs cannot proceed.
Export Word documents to PDF. For an image saved as HEIC, create a supported export rather than changing the filename. Open the exported file to confirm it is readable and complete. If the message is an interrupted upload, use the offered resume action after reconnecting.
If the prepared count includes an unexpected extra page, inspect the source for a blank page or an accidental duplicate. Changes should be made before creating a new checkout.
What if the fax could not be submitted?
A submission failure means the service could not complete the handoff to the fax network. It does not establish that the recipient’s machine caused the problem.
Follow the status page’s next step. Eligible pre-transmission failures start a full refund. If the outcome is uncertain, support may need to check it first to avoid both resending a fax and refunding a transmission that actually occurred.
What if the receiving line was busy or did not answer?
Confirm that you have a fax number, that the recipient still accepts faxes there, and that their equipment is available. Wait for the current attempt’s final result before arranging another send.
A failed multi-page transmission may still have delivered some pages. Ask the recipient what arrived when the result is unclear. That lets you decide together whether to resend the full package or only the missing material.
What information should I give support?
- The short reference shown on the private status page.
- The displayed error and approximately when the attempt happened.
- Whether the recipient reports receiving any pages.
- Never include card numbers, security codes, passwords, or document contents in an ordinary support email.
